// VE Day 70 in 70 seconds

This year, on 8th May, we celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day – the day that the Second World War ended in Europe in 1945. We proposed a film to our clients, The Royal British Legion, that would explain everything you needed to know about VE Day and why it was so important.

Approach

We proposed that we make a short ‘mixed media’ film, which would allow us to experiment with different materials and filming techniques, including coloured card, stop frame animation and live action sequences. We felt that this different, inventive way of shooting would make the film much more fun and interesting to viewers, and especially appeal to a younger audience – one of the Legion’s key objectives. We experimented with music, voiceover and sound design combinations to be sure of the best impact.

Results

The Legion now have a really engaging, fun and educational asset to spread across all of their VE Day 70 media activities. Following in the success of our ‘How Do You Wear Your Poppy‘ film, we’re confident that this short will be picked up and spread across social media by the charity’s followers and the mainstream media across the world.
