// Poppy Selfie
2014 marks the centenary of the beginning of World War I and our client, The Royal British Legion, wanted to make the Poppy Appeal even more of a success. Part of their online drive for public engagement was the rollout of their #poppyselfie hashtag – encouraging supporters to post ‘selfies’ of themselves wearing their Poppies on the Legion’s social media.
In order for this film to appeal to a wide audience, RAW recognised that it needed to be fun, inclusive and current. In keeping with current trends and knowing the importance of the poppy as a symbol, we went out on the streets to film lots of people of all ages and races holding a giant Poppy with a view to creating a super snappy montage in post production.
The Royal British Legion now has a fun and modern short promo that they can use to engage with the public and inspire donations. We hope that the #PoppySelfie will now be an integral part of the Poppy Appeal every year.
