// Silence in the Square 2014
Every year we remember the day that the the guns fell silent at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. 2014 is a particularly significant year because it marks 100 years since the beginning of the First World War.
As a mark of respect to the men and women who lost their lives in the two World Wars and subsequent conflicts we hold a 2-minute silence at 11am on Armistice Day. On this day, our clients, The Royal British Legion, host a ‘Silence in the Square’ event in Trafalgar Square where members of the public can attend and join the Legion in a group act of Remembrance.
RAW were very pleased to be trusted to provide a 4 camera HD outside broadcast, huge LED screen in the square and global live webcast.
The RAW team were up before sunrise to make last minute preparations and have everything ready to go live at 10am. Ben Shephard was the host of the event, which included musical performances from the London Welsh Male Choir and Britain’s Got Talent winners, Callabro, before the 2-minute silence at 11am. Throughout those 2 minutes we saw London come to a standstill in reflection and remembrance; a poignant, yet beautiful tribute.
Thank you to everyone who attended Silence in the Square 2014 and also to those who watched online. You can still watch the webcast here: http://new.livestream.com/britishlegion/Silence-in-the-Square-2014
