// Poppy Appeal 2014

The Poppy Appeal has well and truly kicked off and RAW have been filming all across London over the past couple of weeks for the Royal British Legion. 2014 marks the centenary of World War I so this is an extra special year for the Legion.

Filming began with the Poppy Appeal Launch with a sunrise to sunset vigil at the Cenotaph called #TheWatch. There were 4 people ‘on watch’ at a time, each for 30 minutes, beginning with Joss Stone, singer of the official Poppy Appeal Single 2014 and whose great grandfather fought in World War I. Joss was then followed by numerous veterans, Army personnel and members of the public who kept watch throughout the day. It was an inspiring day for all and a great start to the Poppy Appeal.

We then produced the #PoppySelfie video, encouraging people to take selfies of themselves wearing their poppy with pride. This is a particular favourite of ours, we hope you like it too!

For London Poppy Day Launch, the Legion enlisted the help of Boris Johnson and Brian Blessed, who had a bit of a shout off. They were both loud and proud as they sold poppies to the British public at London’s Liverpool Street station.

If you were travelling on the Underground on 30th October you may well have heard some famous voices over the tannoys making the announcements, including Joanna Lumley and Stephen Fry, for London Poppy Day. This is the largest one-day street collecting event involving brass bands, celebrities and, of course, army personnel selling lots and lots of poppies at Underground stations across London.

The Poppy Appeal will culminate in Armistice Day on November 11th when we will be filming Silence in the Square at Trafalgar Square.

You can watch the live stream on the day, starting at 10am, here:

In the meantime, please buy your poppies in memory of the fallen and the future of the living and wear them with pride.
